# SpinBridge

> An open-source tool that streams live Resolume Arena output to several SpinDisplay F56 holographic fans at once, each with its own content.

## The problem

**SpinDisplay F56** holographic fans show images that seem to float in mid-air. For a show with several of them, each running its own content in sync with the stage, there's a catch: the official app can only project to one fan at a time.

## The solution

SpinBridge takes live **Resolume Arena** output via **Spout**, splits it into slices and sends each slice to a different fan over Wi-Fi, all at once. To do that, it speaks the fans' projection protocol directly, reverse-engineered solely to interoperate with owned equipment.

It's an independent project, unaffiliated with the SpinDisplay manufacturer, and the repository contains no manufacturer code.

## How it works

- **Visual assignment:** drag each detected fan onto a slot that matches a Resolume slice. If the slot is taken, the two swap places.
- **Identify:** shows the slot number on the fan for 5 seconds so you know which physical unit is which.
- **Per-fan or global control:** include or exclude a fan from the stream, start or stop its motor (with confirmation) and adjust brightness.
- **Settings that survive network changes:** fans are stored by MAC address, so assignments stick even if the IP or router changes.
- **External control:** the engine exposes a local HTTP API so it can be driven from Stream Deck, Companion or scripts (state, run, stop, power, identify).
- **Per-session log** for post-show review.

## Technical details

- A **Python** engine and an **Electron** desktop app, packaged as a Windows installer that doesn't require Python.
- It runs on the high-performance GPU; Resolume must run on the same GPU, since Spout only shares frames within a single GPU.
- The repository documents the fan's protocol (discovery, control and projection) along with network measurements using 5 fans: around 17 fps per fan with an enterprise access point, and around 13 with consumer routers.
